Are there any disadvantages of solar panels?

Some things to take into consideration are:

Initial cost can be high

Installation & purchase of solar energy systems can be expensive initially.

Utility Pro’s offer a payment plan so that you can spread the initial cost over a period of time. You may also be eligible for help from government schemes.

Solar energy can be intermittent

Solar energy production can be affected by factors such as night time, snow, clouds & foliage. To get around this, you could have a battery storage system installed.

Can take up a lot of space

Solar panels take up a large space, to collect a lot of sunlight.

If you require a high amount of solar electricity, you will require a lot of solar panels.

Pollution initially

While pollution is less compared to other energy sources, there is still some initial pollution. Greenhouse gases are emitted during manufacture, transportation and installation of solar powered systems. The positive is that the initial pollution is outweighed by the emissions saved once installed.

Can’t be moved

If you plan to move, the solar panels will stay with the property where they are installed. They are usually a long term plan.
