Air source heat pump guide

Air source heat pumps work by taking heat (thermal energy) from the air outside of your property and converting this into heating and hot water for inside your home. These type of heat pumps work in cold temperatures and are suitable for different sized properties. Air source heat pumps are installed outside of the property and are quiet whilst running.

Electricity is required to operate these heat pumps however only 25% of usage will be electricity whilst the other 75% will be energy generated from the outside air – emissions are therefore reduced.

Advantages of air source heat pumps

  • Fits into small spaces so works great if your property has limited outside space
